Today we sat down with some of the sustainability advisors of the Tourism Industry Aotearoa. This group works as an intermediary between the government and their 1600 members. Their members consist of small business and big companies. Their latest campaign has split the industry into four different sectors and have created 12 total goals that they encourage their members to follow. I continue to admire how the tourism sector in New Zealand is truly interested in not only finding ways to maintain the environments that open to tourists, but to make them accessible.
I also really appreciated the last question that they made at their presentation which was “how to make tourism good for New Zealand”. Their step toward regeneration really showed me that they are keeping the environment and the good of the country in mind when they advise their members.
