Yesterday we visited the sustainable trust. This is an organization that was founded in 2003, and is really setting a great example for the community. I found some of the stuff they do quite wholesome. It is a good addition to help out locals in the community. They do many programs that all are welcome. They have a repair shop open to the public for free use. They work on repairing bikes and even repairing clothing. This is a step towards sustainability because people can fix their old items rather than buying new ones. Another activity they did there was collecting old curtains, repairing them and then redistributing them. They also did activities with the local kids age 5-12. They did things like cleaning up the local beaches, parks, trails, etc. Another program that they worked on there was the composting program. They would strive to recycle as much as possible and compost to try and be more sustainable. They had programs to recycle metal, plastic, e waste, batteries, wool, car seats and even bicycles. Overall this organization did a lot to try and contribute towards a more sustainable healthier environment.
