Going to the SkyCity hotel and learning about the different ways the hotel group and business in the hotel industry are changing the way they look at sustainability was eye opening. One key takeaway for me was that sustainability goes deeper than just the environment or the planet but human sustainability. For example, using cctv to monitor people’s time spent in the casinos and having frequent check in’s to make sure that they are being taken care of is important. Using sustainably to go beyond is just the beginning of creating a world that can not only survive but thrive.
