Today, we went to Sanford Fishing Company. During our meeting, we explored into the factory where the factory workers were shipping the fish products and checking to see if the fish was good. I found this to be important because every company needs checkup and there is a lot of fish to look after. After that, we met Peter, who basically discussed how every morning at 6am they have a deadline at 8am to have fish ready to auction off for other fishing companies and resturuants to take. From what I had learned up to that point, fishing is a very competitive business but what really stood out was the goal of sustainable development in the fishing market for New Zealand. They make sure the fish is pure and fresh for all consumers. I found this cool because us as consumers, need fresh fish to be edible and to enjoy. Overall, I really liked Dr. Longdill’s views and presentation of how sustainability affects fishing and why New Zealand puts a major effort to keep fishing as a source of income. Later on today, I went to an art gallery and found some cool art.
