The first presentation of the day challenged my idea of sustainable living. I truly believe not using plastic bags is one of the best things I can do for the environment. However when he spoke about the environmental footprint of paper and paper bags, it really got me thinking. I feel like the negative impact of plastic bags truly lies within the human use of them with the disregard for the disposal which leads them to get into the ocean, impacting sea life. If everyone disposed of them correctly it would be better for the environment to produce them in the first place. Todays presentations were a lot of good for thought and I need more time to digest everything we learned.
