Sanford & Sons Fishing: Today we spoke to the GM of sustainability for the oldest business of New Zealand: Sanford & Sons Fishing. I was impressed with how proactive and transparent they were with their sustainability methods. He spoke about the company pulled their mussels out of the water because there was a toxin being spread among the mussels. Other things that they do on their own is track the endangered Māori dolphins so as to not disrupt their habitats and further endanger them.
New Zealand Maritime Museum: During our free time, @sabad and I decided to explore the near by Maritime Museum. The museum houses several different vessels all throughout history. There is an exhibit full of boats made by the Māori people with the history of how they first arrived to Aotearoa. There are also exhibits on the British and Spanish Navies and the history of New Zealand as a boating country.
I was very appreciative of the Immigrant exhibit in the museum which showed the experience of the immigrants who took boats to travel to New Zealand in search of a new life.
