Today we went to the Te Papa museum. It was crazy to me that the museum was free because there were so many exhibits. We spent almost four hours walking through and learned so much about different things. My favorite exhibit was the Mana Whenua exhibit that showed how the Māori s ancestors came to New Zealand. The exhibit showed beautiful boats and houses that were used by the Māori people’s ancestors. We went into a Marai that was beautiful and were able to draft our own genealogies using a template that was given to us. It was really cool to see the history of New Zealand through art and really get a feel for how the Māori culture is.
