Todays visit to the Te papa was very informative while also very visually stunning. I got to learn a deeper history of how the colonizers unsustainably used natural resources and what the repercussions were. I also got to learn about many animals and relatives of the kiwi that became extinct during the colonization period. The WWI exhibit was also interesting as I never really realized New Zealand fought wars against the Turkish during that time. The art and carving structures were beautiful and gave me an appreciation of the amount of time that the Maori culture puts into art. Reading why wellington experiences so many earthquakes was interesting, and it was fun to go into the earthquake simulator. Definitely, the coolest museum I’ve ever been in.
