The first presentation of today brought a new perspective that I thought was important to consider when shopping. Society focuses on the issues of plastic bag usage instead of focusing on what we put inside our bags.
The conversation we had about transportation in the U.S brought a lot of concerns and interesting opinions. In Los Angeles we have transportation, we just choose not to use it.
Talks about wanting better or nicer areas to walk on came up but I think we just want too much. Sometimes making use of what we have is better and sustainable enough rather than building new infrastructure.
Some areas in Los Angeles or just Southern California in general are fortunate enough to have nice streets and sidewalks but if we sit around and wait for shade or for a cracked sidewalk to be fixed, chances are we still won’t use the space.
I think in order for carbon footprints to be minimized people need to change. There really is not much that can be ‘fixed’ if we keep building and building and building.
I think we need to realize that us humans are the problem. I’ve noticed that almost every city I’ve been to focuses on fixing fixing fixing or changing changing changing for the better but not one city or place or company or person has said to leave things as they are.
Man is destructive and there really isn’t any way of reversing that.
