Today we had a full day of presentations and conversations with representatives from the University of Victoria’s School of Architecture and the University of Otago. We learned about the relationship between architecture and sustainability. One thing that really stuck out to me today was how city planners and architects think about the littlest of things when it comes to creating city plans. For example, Steph talked to us about how they did little things such as raising street levels to make sure rain flows to the drain and designing rain pipes certain sizes to mitigate any problems when it comes to things such as inserting new lines for phones/wireless things, etc.
I learned that both universities are very committed to creating sustainable architecture and am excited to see where they go in the future years.
