Today was a long day visiting the VUW School of Architecture, UOW Campus, and Cuba Street Te Ngākau Civic Square. We got to experience presentations about general sustainability and the many fallacies of sustainability, from plastic bags to the food we eat, sustainable building practices, Indigenous landscape architecture, and public housing in New Zealand. We also learned about green spaces in the city, such as the Te Ngākau Civic Square. Overall today was a packed day of learning. The thing that stuck out the most to me was the talk on sustainable building practices at the VUW School of Architecture. I was really interested in the robotic arm, hemp create, and other building practices like the reused plywood structures. Overall I was really impressed by the school of architecture and the integration of technology, indigenous ideas, and sustainability.
