New Zealand’s tourism industry has four different sectors and 3 “rules” or forms of conduct under each sector. The sectors are economic. visitor. community. environment. On an economic standpoint tourism provides NZ to prosper through tourism, since the country relies on tourism. As for visitors, domestic or international, culture and engagement are implemented into the tourist destinations. So the company claims they do. Under their community sector, sustainable supply chains are operated through their environment to lead solutions to issues in NZ communities.
As for their 4th sector -environment- restoring nature, reducing carbon, and eliminating waste are their priorities when it comes to enhancing NZ’s biodiversity. I had asked our speaker today how their industry “enhances” the environment without changing anything. He mentioned that land and soil are taken care of for the better to sustain wildlife and it seemed as if the environment is taken care of for wildlife rather than for just tourism.
The only struggle to understand this company was how these things are done. This presentation felt like it was more telling but not really showing.
