We visited the Aoetera New Zealand Tourism Industry earlier this morning. The lecture lasted from 10:00am-12:00pm. One of the things that really stood out to me during this lecture was if tourism was helping NZ or is NZ helping tourism. I felt that it could’ve gone both ways personally mainly because NZ does rely on tourism to keep money coming through but tourism relies on the people of NZ itself to maintain good sustainability and keeping a clean environment to keep people coming in. As I was looking at the pamphlets during the lecture, I noticed that the section explaining production and visitor’s section of visitor’s expectations can actually correlate with one another. This is due to the fact that the tourist industry looks to create new ways to increase productivity and thus, lead to innovating for striving for new ideas to increase productivity and meet the visitors satisfaction because at the end of the day, they want to please the visitor. I felt the environment section was very important as well because the goals were specifically stated to keep the environment equitable for all tourists and encouraging to eliminate waste, reduce their carbon emissions, and restore their beautiful nature that New Zealand has to offer. In short, I found this as a visitor, to be a very innovative and meaningful lecture on tourism in New Zealand.
