Today we visited Victoria University of Wellington and learned about their sustainability efforts. It was very interesting to learn about the Living Building Challenge and how the college is planning to expand on their marai (Māori gathering space). The building would be 100% sustainable and is a way to actively teach and learn sustainability. It was cool to see how Victoria University works to center indigenous knowledge around its sustainability efforts. We also participated in a seminar about sustainability from a leadership and tourist view and how universities play a big role in leadership when it comes to sustainability. Today showed me that Whittier could be doing a lot more especially because we have such a voice within our bigger Whittier community
