This morning, we spent the whole day at Victoria University of Wellington. We were touring around the campus and getting to understand what exactly happens at Victoria University. I found that the campus was very clean and green which explains that the university puts a high emphasis on cleaning and keeping their school environment safe. One of the things that really stood out to me was when Andrew took us to the milk room in the back of the hub. The fact that New Zealand uses glasses instead of plastic to recycle their milk is actually a big reason why New Zealand doesn’t have an ocean waster problem and this saves them the stress of creating a unsustainable environment for all. I feel that if the US did that, we wouldn’t have as much of a problem with littering and irresponsible production. During our first lecture, we learned about the influence of Maori influences on the campus of Wellington. During our lecture at the end of the day, the thing that stood out was when we did our final exercise for putting what we believed should be in order of the SDG’s. My group got climate action, responsible production and consumption, and clean water/sanitation. We put responsible production first as we believed that we must put our responsibilities first before we start climate action, then we decided that we would proceed by promoting clean sanitation and water. Overall, I found that lesson productive as we were trying to find productive solutions in order to maintain environmental sustainability.
