Kia Ora Auckland!
For our first full day in Auckland, we visited the SkyCity Hotel. We met SkyCity’s sustainability manager, Anthony Thompson. Anthony is of Maori descent and gave us a warm Maori welcome to New Zealand. Although I did feel a bit intimidated at first the whole experience was exceptional and unlike anything I’ve partaken in. I was particularly interested in Anthony’s role at SkyCity. It was refreshing to see someone so passionate about sustainable practices working on the corporate side. I’m so used to seeing performative activism regarding environmental sustainability so to see it in action was truly inspiring.
