Sky City: It was very nice to meet the Sustainability Director of Sky City and learn about the hotel’s efforts to be sustainable. I was most interested in learning about their “host responsibility”. The casino staff are trained to check in on their guests in an effort to prevent gambling addictions.
We had the afternoon off after and this is what we did:
Compost Site: @sabad and I stumbled upon a garden with a compost site. The garden was in a public space and it had a compost bin. We could see that tomato’s, squash, and pumpkins were grown there.
Albert Park: We headed over to Albert Park next. The park is a part of Auckland University. It was very big and extremely green.
Auckland Art Gallery: The Auckland Art Gallery is free and I highly recommend checking it out. The gallery is host to a diverse amount of artists and subjects. My favorite pieces were “Love Notes”, “Her First Love Letter”, and the several portraits of Māori women. The exhibition of “The Myth of Masculinity” was also very enlightening.
Game On Arcade: We ended the day by eating Yaki Soba noodles and heading over to an arcade. It was similar to the Round1 that I visit often in the US. We won enough tickets to bring home a dice, a whistle pop, and a rubix cube keychain.
